altIntroduction:

The Course in Green Plumbers Environmental Solutions has been designed for registered and/or licensed plumbing practitioners and plumbing apprentices who wish to ‘value-add’ to their existing plumbing skills and services.

It provides participants with the knowledge and skills required to advise clients on the selection of sustainable plumbing appliances and systems for use in domestic or commercial properties. The appropriate selection of plumbing systems will result in financial savings for the client and also environmental benefits to the community as a whole. 

Course Objectives:

On completion of the Course in Green Plumbers Environmental Solutions participants will have the skills and knowledge to:

  • discuss the benefits of sustainability for clients and the broader community as a whole
  • provide advice to clients on water and energy saving plumbing appliances and systems
  • report on existing plumbing systems and make recommendations for environmentally sustainable improvements
  • identify and discuss federal, state and local government incentives and initiatives available to clients who adopt sustainable plumbing systems.

Assessment:

A range of methods will be used to assess skills, understanding and knowledge. These will include verbal and written questions and case studies.

Prerequisites:

Participants in the Course in Green Plumbers Environmental Solutions must be registered and/or licensed plumbing practitioners or plumbing apprentices.

Awards:

Participants who complete five core and two elective units in this course will achieve the nationally recognised qualification, 22079VIC Course in Green Plumbers Environmental Solutions.

12-15 participants

Course Recognition:

Participants will be eligible for Continuing Professional Development points for completing training in this course. 

Course Overview:

Core Units

  • VU20194 Provide advice on energy efficient plumbing measures (8 hours)
  • VU20195 Provide plumbing advice on water conservation measures (4 hours)
  • VU20196 Provide advice on solar heated water systems (8 hours)
  • VU20197 Carry out environmental plumbing inspections (4 hours)
  • VU20198 Provide advice on urban alternative water sources (8 hours)

Elective units (two units must be completed)

  • VU20199 Provide advice on energy efficient commercial hot water systems (8 hours)
  • VU20200 Plan suburban pump systems (8 hours)
  • VU20201 Provide advice on natural wastewater treatment systems (8 hours)
  • VU20202 Provide advice on irrigation systems (8 hours)

Course Duration:

The total course duration in 48 hours. Participants may enrol in single units and complete the qualification over a period of time.
