Introduction:

Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) is a detailed program aimed at providing education in the field of OHS. It is designed for people who have experience and/or interest in OHS but who do not have any formal training or recognition

Course Objectives:

On successful completion of the course, the specific skills and knowledge gained will enable participants too competently:

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of OHS Legislation
  • Develop and implement OHS Management Strategies
  • Communicate effectively on OHS matters
  • Recognise, assess and control workplace hazards
  • Develop and Implement Risk Management strategies in the workplace
  • Access and utilise information resources
  • Develop and implement emergency procedures

Assessment:

The aim of this course is to meet National Competency Standards for OHS. To achieve this student will be required to complete activities and assignments to demonstrate their skills, understanding and knowledge. They will be assessed by the demonstration of their competence throughout the course and in the learning outcomes of training programs. Assessment challenge tests are also used in the assessment.

Prerequisites:

There are no admission requirements for this course. However, participants will require an appropriate level of literacy, and an understanding of mathematics and science. Participants should have basic computer skills

Awards:

Successful completion of this course will lead to the nationally recognised qualification in BSB41604 Certificate IV in OHS

A maximum of 14 participants per class
