Introduction:
This course has been designed to meet the National
Competency Standards for confined space entry; this accredited course provides
practical training on AS 2865-2001. It also satisfies the training requirements
of the Victorian Commonwealth and other state regulations. During the course
participants will be required to carry out risk assessments, develop safe entry
procedures, complete entry permits and physically demonstrate competency within
a simulated confined space environment using provided confined space entry
requirements (eg. gas detectors, harness, lifelines, SCBA and ventilation
equipment)
Learning Method:
The course is a practical based program that uses predominantly “hands
on” adult learning techniques. It will provide participants with the
understanding, knowledge and skills to perform specified tasks correctly. These
tasks are developed to meet identified learning outcomes considered necessary
to help industry achieve compliance with legislative requirements and establish
current best practice arrangements relevant to the training subject.
Admission

There are no formal entry
requirements. However participants will require basic literacy skills
Note: Although not physically demanding, participants will
be using equipment and performing activities that will require a reasonable
level of fitness

Method of Assessment:
The aim of the course is to meet the national competency standards for
confined space entry. To achieve this throughout the course, participants will
be required to perform hands on tasks to demonstrate their skills, methods and
knowledge. They will be assessed by the demonstration of their competence in
the skills areas of the training programs. Challenge tests and a brief theory
test will be used in this assessment. Where applicable a Melbourne Water
assessment will also be required
Recognition of course:
The following nationally competencies are delivered:
- Enter Confined Space (PMAPER205A0
- Work in accordance with an issued permit
(PMAPER200B)
