ADMA

The Australian Duct Manufacturers Alliance (ADMA), with support from MPMSAA was successful with its submission to the Federal Government’s Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts (DEWHA) for funding support to undertake research and implement strategies towards “self regulation” of the industry.

The project’s focus was to Review Current Practice and The Development of Best Practice for the Manufacture And Thermal Performances of Flexible Duct In accordance with the BCA and Australian Standards”.

In the past 2 years as a group ADMA has;

  • Had the Final report accepted by the Federal Government’s department (DEWHA)
  • Prepared a submission for further funding support to DEWHA
  • Sponsored the MPMSAA Apprentice in HVAC Encouragement Award in conjunction with the Heating and Cooling Association of Australia
  • Attracted almost 5,000 visitors to the ADMA website www.adma.net.au
  • Negotiated a Flexible Duct Testing Process, Research and Development Plan with VIPAC Australia
  • Had meetings with DEWHA, ABCB and Standards Australia for the introduction of Mandatory Labeling into BCA
  • Submitted a proposal to Standards Australia to process a standard for Mandatory Labelling of flexible ducts.
  • Made an application to Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Scheme (VEET) for “The retrofit of ductwork in gas ducted heating systems”.
  • Worked on Standards Committees to mandate labelling of flexible duct.
  • Conducted independent testing through Vipac and Autex of their products for Thermal Rating.
  • Appointed a consultant to investigate findings and provide a report.

Following the report submitted to The Federal Government (DEWHA) in 2009, ADMA has embarked on a feasibility study into the design & development a Flexible Duct Testing Process.

This is expected to be completed in 2010 and available for independent product testing by a creditable organisation and located at the Climate Action Centre in Brunswick.
