Our recruitment team ensures that we employ the highest quality applicants through our comprehensive selection process.

We aim to train our apprentices to become exceptional multi skilled plumbers of the future. The Group Training Scheme achieves this goal by ensuring that all successful applicants complete pre employment training before commencing work. All apprentices are continually monitored by our dedicated field staff both on the job and off the job.

WHAT INPUT DO HOST-EMPLOYERS HAVE ON OUR INDUSTRY?

Host-Employers are the heart of the Group Training Scheme, providing valuable knowledge and skills by making the work placement available to the MPMSAA Group Training Scheme apprentices. We acknowledge and appreciate the Hosts input into the training and development of each and every apprentice.

The exposure of the host to the apprentice and the apprentice to the host allows both parties to make an educated choice on future employment opportunities.

SO WHAT DOES THE GROUP SCHEME OFFER TO HOST-EMPLOYERS?

The plumbing industry has many fluctuations in respect to work load. Sometimes plumbers and their businesses can find the demand for their services a little overwhelming. On the other hand, the tables can turn quite dramatically resulting in a decrease in workload.

By using a Master Plumber’s Group Training Scheme apprentice, the plumbing business will have the flexibility of being able to call on extra labour when they need it most without having to make the long term commitment of employing an extra person.

The Master Plumbers Group Training Scheme does all the worrying so a business can concentrate on is getting the job done.

The Scheme takes care of all associated paperwork and as the employer handles all of the following:

  • Process and payment of apprentice wages
  • Process and payment of superannuation, redundancy, portable sick leave, long service leave and taxation.
  • Supply and issue of protective clothing
  • WorkCover
  • Enrolment and monitoring of trade school
  • Completion and lodgement of training agreement
  • The only forms you will ever see is the Host-Employer Lease  form, weekly invoice and an initial Hire Agreement when a company wishes to hire an apprentice.

HOW DOES THE GROUP SCHEME KNOW WHAT TO PAY THE APPRENTICE AND WHAT TO CHARGE THE HOST EMPLOYER?

The apprentice fills in a time sheet each week, which is supplied by the Master Plumbers Group Training Scheme. The time sheet covers hours worked, including overtime and any additional allowances that may be applicable. It is then checked and signed by the  company, supervisor or representative, and sent in to MPMSAA office by the apprentice. The company is invoiced directly from information supplied on the time sheet that you must authorise. It is that easy!

CONDITIONS OF HIRE

  • Shortest period of hire is 5 days (one working week - usually Monday - Friday)

(although longer periods are encouraged to assist both the host and apprentice develop a working relationship).

  • The host only pays for apprentices when they actually work.

(The host is not invoiced for public holidays, annual or sick leave, trade school days or rostered days off.)

  • No WorkCover paperwork - the requirements which include  paperwork and payments are done by the Scheme.
